With his tribute to film noir and women-in-prison B films, director Steve Balderson has created a movie that almost surpasses the films that inspired it. Photographed in rich black-and-white, and shot in Macon, Georgia, STUCK! has all the trademarks of a classic women-in-prison movie, but with a modern twist. Daisy (Starina Johnson) has been wrongly accused of killing her invalid mother. When a meddling neighbor (the legendary Karen Black of TRILOGY OF TERROR and GYPSY 83) gives eyewitness testimony, Daisy is convicted of the murder and sentenced to death by hanging. While she waits in prison for her last call, Daisy attempts to get to know the other women, all of whom have their own personal demons to resolve. The power hungry prison guard “Amazon” (Stacy Cunningham) makes sure to add to Daisy’s difficulties. This small group of female prisoners makes up the principal cast of the film and their interactions with each other inspire some powerful performances. Cult icon Mink Stole (PINK FLAMINGOS, CRYBABY) is the moralistic tax evader, Susan Traylor is the serial husband killer, Jane Wiedlin (of The Go-Go’s) plays the childlike Princess, and Pleasant Gehman (THE VELVET HAMMER BURLESQUE) is the sassy Dutch. In possibly his most ambitious film to date, Balderson ratchets up the action, cranks out the snappy dialogue, and brings us back to another era of tough times and even tougher women. This film will reel you in with the promise of a rousing good time, but will keep you riveted with the delivery of a really great story.
