was pieced together from various sources, including The Society for the
Preservation of Kansas City History and Genealogy and the Chicago Immigrant
and Settler Society. Some of the data is hearsay, having been related
to me by descendants of the subjects. While certain inaccuracies may be
included, I believe the overall story is not only an accurate account,
but also quite revealing of the trauma and turmoil that engulfed Sandra's
early years.
Sandra was born in
Chicago. Her mother, Alexandra, was Russian. Cassandra's father, Karl
Ernst Koertz, was German. They named their child Cassandra Tatiana Koertz.
